Committee Introduction
The United Nations Special Committee on Global Aviation Governance (UNSCGAG) recognizes the vital role delegates play in shaping the future of international aviation. As representatives of large aerospace corporations and airlines, delegates will navigate issues ranging from airspace conflicts and military overflights to AI-driven aircraft systems, maintenance and safety lapses, drone proliferation, and the ethical dimensions of modern air travel. Over the course of debate and crisis updates, delegates will negotiate standards for safer skies, develop frameworks for responsible AI use, and work to prevent miscommunication or escalation between civilian and military aviation actors. By the end of the committee, delegates are expected to produce comprehensive, forward-looking resolutions that balance national interests with global stability, strengthen aviation governance mechanisms, and chart a cooperative path for the future of flight.
This committee will primarily follow the general assembly structure with crisis updates (no backroom). There will be occasional, timed crises in which the committee will switch to a crisis structure for a short period. This committee is great for beginners familiar with the GA structure, but who would like to dip their toes into crisis.
